Be careful with LED DRL's

This could happen to you! Both did the same thing. Not sure of the failure yet, its being looked at for further analysis.

I'm not really sure what I am looking at... can you explain what happened?

Whoa, looks like they either melted or actually flamed up a bit, eh?

I noticed both of mine have caused a light brown discoloration in the bulb socket edge, but never thought the heat could be that significant.

BT, those are the Putco LED bulbs which replaced the stock DRL set.

That's due to excessive heat. Strange since it happened with LED bulbs.

As Moose stated the first picture is of a melted DRL LED in the DRL housing for the 2011 Jeep. The second picture is of the socket and melted LED still in the socket.

Moose did you put in neutrons or 360 Novas? Those were neutrons.

The housing as you can see has a brown tinge now which I can touch with a finger but havent tried to clean with a solvent as id hate to loose some paper towel etc and have it stuck in the housing forever. It doesnt rub off and think its due to heat when they melted.

Correct considering LEDs run much cooler then the stock glass bulb which came out.

It seems there are more horror stories than good ones with these led bulbs.

By all means I don't read all threads but don't recall seeing other LED issues per say?

I used the 360 Novas for DRL, and the neutrons for reverse lights in the liftgate. Will recheck, but I wonder if the load is different for each set or if they are both 3157 models?

J, haven't you been running them for awhile, seems odd something blows now?
