Re: WK Researching: 5.7 tranny w/ a 4.7 engine???

Are you sure because wouldn't the 5.7 be a stronger tranny to support its power?? So if its the same...what about 6.1 tranny for a 4.7 engine???

Re: WK Researching: 5.7 tranny w/ a 4.7 engine???

for the power the 4.7 or 5.7 puts down...the tranny is more thgan adequate....no use in upgrading the tranny unless your upgrading the engine....

the 5,7 limiteds do have the ELSD. i might look into some kind of trak-loc or posi device to add to the rear. then you at least can get 3 wheels spinng. but I would only bother if you 'wheel' or deal with lots of snow.

im going to look for something for the rear of my 4.7.

in my XJ, it came with Trac-Loc in the rear from Jeep along with the Selec-Trac FullTime AWD transfer case. I have been in all sorts iof snow without an issue. I also ride around with 150 lbs of sand abgs on the rear end in the deep stuff/

Re: WK Researching: 5.7 tranny w/ a 4.7 engine???

The SRT comes with the same transmission found on the 3.7 (W5A580). The 4.7 and 5.7 come with the 545RFE.

ELSD is a part of QDII, so if you have a 4.7 with QDII you're still going to have the ELSD's - that's not a feature restricted only to the 5.7.
