Issues with Sirius trial?

I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with getting started on the 1 year Sirius trial? My car was built to order and picked up Nov 11th. 3 days later the radio stopped working. I tried to register it online but the web site claimed that I only had a 3 month trial. I then got the dealership involved and they had it straightened out. My account showed the 1 year trial and everything worked.

Today my radio stopped working again. I logged in to my account and the radio isn’t even listed. It isn’t listed as ‘expired’ – the radio is just GONE. So once again I go through customer service at Sirius – and they are back to giving me a 3 month trial! They have to ‘escalate’ the problem before they can fix it, again. I can’t believe they don’t have a list of manufacturers with correct trial periods. Is anyone else having an issue with this?

Coincidentally (or not?), mine stopped working today, too. I've had the vehicle 8 days.

It happened on the way to work. It was working fine, I attempted to change to a different channel, and it instead went to a "Preview" channel of 184 instead of where I wanted it to change to.

Then, anytime I went to change the channel, a message popped up telling me to call Sirius to subscribe.

I hit the 430N's menu button, and browsed to the Sirius Subscription info screen, and it said I was subscribed. Not that I was expired.

Luckily, I was able to fix it...

Tonight when I got home from work, I went to Sirius's website, entered in the radio ID, and it asked me to create an account (had to enter in an email address, etc.). Once the account was created, I found a "Resend activation signal" button on the website, and there was some text there saying to try it if your radio is stuck on one of the Preview channels. Well, that definitely sounded like me, so I did it.

Went and looked at the radio, and after a couple minutes, a yellow message appeared on it saying somthing like "updating channels". After about a minute or so, the message went a way, and the radio is working again.

Whew. I hope this was just a fluke, and I don't have to keep doing it all the time.

J: Log in and check your subscription online - make sure your expiration date is correct.

Same thing happened with my radio. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Sirius customer service. When they finally resolved the issue after multiple calls they gave me an extra year of free service for my trouble. Travel Link still doesn't work, but I gave up.

If you have this problem i would suggest 2 options. First is call your dealer and hopefully someone there can help. If not call Sirius dealer like at 888-465-8528 or have the dealer call that number, they are far better at resolving issues related to preinstalled sirius then normal customer server. When I was a car salesman at a dodge chrysler jeep ram dealership I had to do it all the time.

I heard from my dealer on Friday that everything was supposed to be fixed by Sirius and it should be good to go in 2-3 days. Today it still wasnt working so I contacted them again. Apparently Sirius is having issues with quite a few 2012s (my dealer has several issues ongoing now) and Sirius may need a week or two to fix it.

This is just my take, but it seems like maybe a bunch of radios got coded wrong in their system. My guess was that an audit occurred which deleted my radio once I had it fixed the first time. At that point they must not have known the mess they had caused, and now I'm stuck in the middle of it waiting for them to straighten it out.

Their customer service people still insist it should only be 3 months. Way to get the correct info to the front line, Sirius,

Not that it will help you, but I called Sirius when I had to drive from Tampa to Pensacola to get a week trial in my 07 WK. I get a hold of the lady and give her the info and she tells me the manufacturer's trial was never used and I will get it for a year instead of the week. After having it for a few months, I am glad I got the year (obviously.lol) because after listening to it for a while, I really cant find any real reason for me to pay when the trial is up. I don't listen to any of those talk shows though (howard stern or anything).

Sounds like your situation is going to get resolved though, so that is good.

I had the same problem, called the dealership for them to fix issue. Tried to fix over the phone but that was useless. The account online stills show one year!

Just for any interested, my trial is now back to the one year and says it includes traffic link and travel link now - good through 12/13/2012 (not my purchase date of 11/11). Now I just hope they don't break it again since it was set up correctly once already.

Re: Issues with Sirius trial?

The free trial including travel link on my 2012 GC worked great for 3 weeks since my dealer must have activated it right before I took delivery.

Today, when I first turned the system on, it worked fine. Then after a couple of minutes, it switched to the preview channel 184 and a window popped up saying "Update Subscription". I turned the system off, then on a few times hoping it would work like it did. No luck.

So I called Sirius and they set up an account under my name. But they still say only a 3 month trial is included. After being on the phone with them for an hour, they finally said they would extend the trial to 1 year. Like they are doing me a favor. And they say the TravelLink will take 7-10 days to become active. That sounds like they figure by then I'll forget about the TravelLink.

Boy, what a messed up bunch of dumbells they have working for Sirius. I'll give it 10 days and then I will be calling them again.

See my earlier post. I was able to fix this myself via their website.

I had the same thing happen...lost most of the presets too! Sirius was clueless, so I had my dealer call. They said it's been an issue in a lot of Chrysler vehicles. I'm still waiting for the issue to be resolved. As of today, my account still says 3 month trial.
