Mechanical fan issue
So after my battery died on a major road and needing to be towed away, I replaced the battery. While replacing the battery, I noticed that the fan would shift from front to back when you would rev the engine. I shut the engine off and it seems that the bearings in the fan are gone.

Has anyone replaced this? Can you possibly replace It with a larger electric fan or would there not be enough benefit? Just want to see what my options are before I go out and replace it with OEM.

Re: Mechanical fan issue
are you talking about the metal fan connected to the water pump or the electrical fan?

The metal one attached to the engine.

The oem size works just fine... Anything larger will just take excessive power from the engine. Iirc you will need a combination 32mm wrench... Put it on the pulley and pound towards the water pump with a hammer on the box end. Just off center though to pop it loose. I just have my air hammer set up with apneumatic fan clutch tool st work.

Re: Mechanical fan issue
you can change just the fan clutch instead of the whole fan. I just changed mine yesterday cause i had the same problem. I had play in mine side to side and up and down. Got the new fan clutch and its solid now.
