Anti-freeze leak from skid plate

As if my week wasn't bad enough with the battery issues and tensioner a few weeks ago, now I have a good sized leak under the skid plate. When I start the engine there is a steady stream of antifreeze coming from the drivers side of the oil pan skid plate. the water pump is not wet and there is nothing wet on the top of the engine. I have an aftermarket warranty and they will tow it up to $100 worth. This will get it to the local dealer but I am now 40 miles away from home with a closed dealer. I can change it in the parking lot if anyone knows for sure its the water pump. Please help quick...

Have you noticed any whining recently for your engine? That is a sign it is going out....it could also just be a hose, check those really well.

Re: Anti-freeze leak from skid plate

So I milked it home to the garage where I could get plenty of light under there. And the pump was leaking everywhere. There was not just one spot leaking. Once I got it removed, it literally sounds like its rolling on gravel. I heard the pump making more noise then normal about a week ago and told the wife that I should replace it before winter. And then this happened, guess its time to listen to my instinct. I'll post pictures and videos tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about that. Atleast you got her home safe and sound though where you able to fix her properly.

I'm posting a few pictures so anyone who might need to do this in the future can see what they are doing before they do it. I had trouble finding some when I did a search.

Old one out...

When something like this goes out, I replace everything in the system so I won't have to do it again. Thermostat, coolant flush, hoses water pump and fresh coolant. I shouldn't be doing this again for another couple thousand miles. Assuming nothing is defective. Lol

Hats off to you bro that's the right way to do it. I couldn't imagine that happening to me 30 miles into a trail!!! Good work

Looks fairly easy, how long did it take you? I will probably be putting a new pump on my 4.7 soon. Thanks.
