CRD Easychip Performance Chip

I have been in contact with Easy chip UK after one of our local guys got one fitted to his 2011 CRD. They have confirmed that it is compatible with our model.
The chip seems to be an interceptor and easy to plug in and also remove.
They claim 216KW (177kw stock) and 675NM of Torque (550NM Stock).
It would be nice to know how they perform in the wild. I have asked them for dyno proof of their claims.
Their site is: http://www.dieseltuning.co.uk/jeep-g...el-tuning.html

Thanks for the heads up
What is the price on them?

Would be interesting to see some real life testing/results on a wk2 before i purchase one.

UK375 pounds, about AU$575. If it gives all that is promised, then it is a bargain.

It would be interesting with their variable fuel mapping technology how it effects the fuel economy.

It may be possible that if just driving normally or cruising, the fuel economy maybe uneffected or reduced minimally while improving drivability.

Re: CRD Easychip Performance Chip

Additional power = Higher fuel consumption. Anyone who tells you differently, is a salesman. If cruising, you may get slightly better economy, but then you won't be using that power. However, once you put your foot down....
It sure would make a difference to the GC's towing ability.
675nm would be awesome from a 3.0L, and would put it in comparison with the V8 Toyota Cruiser, which rates @ 650nm.

Re: CRD Easychip Performance Chip

More power will equal more fuel, but if it has a better fuel map for half throttle etc then you will see better fuel consumption at other times. As long as the chip doesnt make the car run too lean on fuel to get that better consumption.

550nm is still a fair bit and unless you are towing up to that 3500kg limit it wouldnt make a heap of difference i dont think.

I think I made a poor choice in words. What I meant by "reduced minimally while improving drivability" is that fuel economy would worsen slightly".

Re: CRD Easychip Performance Chip

I had that chip on my previous WH CRD I just sold. Never had it on the dyno but the difference was very noticeable also probably the claimed improvement is a bit on the optimistic side. Fuel consumption did not change dramatically, probably in the range of 0.1L more.

I got it from the Australian dealer http://www.dieseltuner.com.au/ and they are currently checking for me if it can be upgraded for the WK2.

Re: CRD Easychip Performance Chip

One of the main reasons why I purchased a GC CRD was that I didnt need to chip it as 550NM is heaps of torque.

What I'm more interested in is the worth of EGR blanking plates and catch cans.

I am noticing a small "hesitation" at take off, I am hoping that will improve once run in a bit more

You goto admit the extra torque and power would be fun...

Re: CRD Easychip Performance Chip

It would but any excuse not to honor a warranty claim comes to mind
