What Fuse to tap

I have a quick question. What fuse can/should I tap to get signal for my aftermarket amp? I tried tapping one of the rear speaker leads behind the factory deck but the amp isn't getting 12v's! I have an 05 loredo 4x4 pretty much the base model. I'd like to tap one of the mini fuses so I dont have to fish another wire through the firewall. My fear is I'll tap something that gets power when the key is in the "on" position, but as we all know, the stereo continues to play after the key is removed, until the door is opened and I dont want the amp to turn off until the stereo does.

I did some searching and didn't come up with an answer. Any help would be great!

all fuses listed on wkjeeps.

if you want power that is on regardless of the position of the key.....find one that has the3 B+ next to it.

OR you have 2 power lighter plugs. one on left is key on. other one is all the time. grab one of those power wires.

I dont think I want it on all the time, don't want to drain the battery, just when the stereo is on.

I was thinking about using this fuse but I didn't know if it would work since I don't have a factory amp.

Cavity.. Fuse.. Color... Description
...1 ........30 ....Green ....Amp Audio amp (B+)

That is exactly what I was planning on using. I bought one of these last night from Advanced Auto. Now I just need to figure out what fuse to tap. I was thinking about tapping the one for the factory amp. I just dont know if it'll work since I dont have a factory amp. I guess I'll just try it and see.

Whether you have a factory amp or not, I am sure that fuse location is probably still live. Easiest way to find out is to get a tester and stick it in that fuse location and turn on the ignition - if the tester lights up when you turn the key, then you are good to go - plug in your fuse and hook 'er up!

Wow, did I just give advice to an Auburn fan??!!! :)

i'd honestly just go to the acc cig plug in the front dash. easy to get to, i dont trust fuse tapes, seen too many times they've messed up the socket in the fuse box, fall out. Just my $.02.

I pulled for the dawgs last weekend! I actually went to highschool in oakwood, GA. The only time I go against the Dawgs is when they play Auburn!

Have you done this before? Does the cig plug stay powered until the door is opened like the stereo??

Yeah, I was just kidding. Auburn is probably my second favorite SEC team. Oakwood huh, graduated from North Gwinnett myself. Served three quarters at good ol' Gainesville college before going to UGA.

No, the ACC cig plug turns off as soon as you turn the key off. Another reason to get you a tester so you can check to see if any of those empty fuses do stay on until a door is open. The tester I am talking about looks like a cross between an ice pick and a screwdriver with a ground wire with alligator clip. Clip the ground wire to metal and place the pointed end of the tested into the fuse spot and if there is juice, it will light up. Then turn the key off to see if it is switched. If it is still on, open a door to see if it then goes off and that will be the wire you want to tap.

I've tested them and haven't been able to find on the stays on with accessory delay. I was literally upside down in the driver seat with a multimeter. With the door closed and all.
