Air Suspension question

Wanted to ask some other owners when your Overland is parked with the engine off for lets say at least an hour in normal mode what height do you measure from the ground to the bottom edge of the fenders the edge of the plastic trim and also to the bottom or top edge of the trailer hitch. I just wanted to compare mine. Its been nine months since I got a new compressor and everthing still seems to work it goes to all the positions as it should.

I think the top of my trailer hitch last time I measured was 21 inches. I was measuring to figure out the drop I needed for my trailer to ride level.

Good luck so far with 2-2 1/2" drop on our Overland.

Is anyone going to be able to check this for me?

Front Fender: 34"

Back Fender: 35"

Bottom of Hitch: 18"

All are exact measurements and has sat for 9hrs. Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to do that. Those numbers are close to what I am measuring mine is maybe a 1/4 lower in the rear.

My Overland is measuring the same.

Re: Air Suspension question

I hope I didn't make a mistake getting the air suspension. It was nothing but trouble on my 2003 Hummer H2, and I swore I would never get another vehicle with it.... I guess I lied to myself, cause I ordered it on my Overland.

Re: Air Suspension question

The hummer only had rear air assist for auto leveling. It really shouldn't have been problematic since most of GM's full size SUV had this. A full air suspension setup like the Jeep normally has many more problems. They all come with age as the bags start to crack and wear out. Really most air suspensions are trouble free for the first 4yrs or so.

Yes, it was only on there rear, but it was more than just auto leveling. The Denali my brother had had the auto leveling.
The Hummer when ordered with the air suspension had the full air bags in the rear instead of coils. It had a built-In compressor in the rear for inflating stuff and I could manually control my ride height via a push button giving it an extra 2" while negotiating a rock or something.
It worked great for the first 5 years, but then I had sensors go, the compressor went, and finally an airbag. Every time I fixed it, something else went in 6 months. Finally I took it to a spring shop and had coils put in where the air bags were. Then it was solid till I sold it when I ordered my Jeep.
