Car Bra

Anybody considered a car bra? Kits available like:

http://www.autopaintguard.com/

and

http://www.xpel.com/products/paint_protection_kits.asp

Doesn't seem to be used in Australia.

Re: Car Bra

There are heaps of places that do the clear bra type protection, 3M make it. It works well if put on right.
Cost about $900 for the front fitted.

I have seen a few references to clear film paint guard on the VW Clubtouareg forum in the Aus/NZ section.
A good friend of ours took his new Tourareg across the Simpson last year and was a bit concerned about scratches so did some research and came up with a locally available product that applied with a paint roller.
After the trip it just peeled off like film.
He said that it did protect from scratches and even stone chips.
From memory the product was promoted to protect new vehicles or boats when transported before delivery.
I don't have the name or cost to hand but can find out if you are interested,
John

I heard that this isn't transparent and as such visible as a grey flim. I'm looking for something that is semi-permanent.

We have the 3M clear plastic on our VW Golf. It will stop "minor" stone chips, but the bigger ones will penetrate the plastic. They are not hard to peel off, just need to use a hair dryer on it. You can't detect them when standing a few mtrs away, but when you get close, you can notice it. It is expensive to have applied, and needs to be done by an expert.

allypally you intend getting one for the GC?

Re: Car Bra

The temporary roll on product is from Go Green and called Go Auto....1300 706 312 and they have a web site at:
http://www.gogreenprotectivefilms.co...le-protection/

I wasn't able to get a rough price today - it wasn't cheap but did the job apparently.
I'm sure it wouldn't stop a fair branch scrape but did the job keeping off light bush rub.

It's too late for our current Patrol now, o dear.

and it might be a while before our still to be delivered WK2 gets near to rubbing shrubbery.

anyway trust this is of some assistance.

These guys do it in Sydney http://www.ozicozi.com.au/surfacetech/

Was thinking of looking into that once I get my GC.

Re: Car Bra

Ozicozi are the guys who did the VW.
I wont be using it on the GC, as I want something more robust. That's why I will be going for the Mopar protector.
