transmisson shift

Does anyone else think its werid that the transmisson shifts so quickly and then you feel like the jeep loose some pick up unless you floor it. Wondering if this is a known problem. I have a 2012 laredo about a week and a half old. Its actually kinda pissing me off hahaha.

Others have made the same observation, including me. When I test drove the '11 Laredo I thought it was fine. I'm beginning to wonder if something about the transmission programming is changed on the '12 models. There were many similar comments last year about the '11's and then a TSB seeemed to help a lot. I have Selec-Terrain and run in Sport mode almost all the time which makes a big difference. I plan to trade-in for a diesel or Hemi next year. Wish I got the Hemi in the first place.

My 2011 also shifts too quickly from 2nd. to 3rd. gear and bogs down terribly. I'm hoping that the dealer will be able change the shift points, cause it's very annoying. At first I thought it was the 3.09 gear in the rearend, but have since noticed that if under normal acceleration it will shift from 2nd. to 3rd. very quickly which drops the rpm's and bogs down the motor.

Known behavior but I'm surprised that the 2012s have it.

I have an older build 2011 with the TSB applied...improved the shifting some but I still notice the quick upshift.

Mine will shift quickly if I go very lightly on the gas. I can hold 2nd gear longer just by giving it a little more gas. I belileve it is working as designed.

That's what I have found also...give it more gas once in 2nd and you can delay the upshift a bit.

Same here.

Try putting it in SPORT. Works better.

This is the same with the WK1 also. I have to give it more gas to hold 2 nd gear. Especially when traveling on an incline. Why in the hell will it shift so quickly when traveling on an incline.

After a higher octane tune and some other mods, I no longer had the issue though.

Re: transmisson shift

More gas holds off the dreaded upshift but for me not consistently. Maybe with a few thousand miles more practice I'll get the hang of it. I thought I had this mastered but all of a sudden I'll come to a little hill, give it some gas and the thing upshifts. Frankly this all seemed kind of dangerous to me and I went to sport mode full time. IMHO sport should be the default 'auto' mode and auto mode should be called economy.

I drive in sports mode when driving in town. Its just so much better than trying to remember to give give more gas when in second.
