4x4 Conversione

Okay so once I've got a donor 4x4, where do I start?

ok not to be that guy but...just sell your jeep and go find one thats 4x4 already. You'll be a lot happier both financially and mentally if you sell your present ride and buy a factory-built 4x4.

Say I can't trade mine in and I want a project like this. The donor isn't that expensive. So what do I need to do?

I don't have much in the advice portion of this, but if you end up doing it start a build thread so we can see everything!

it would be cheaper for you to trade in for a 4x4 unless you really really want the project

Re: 4x4 Conversione

They dont make em like they used to. Literally! These jeeps are all centrally controlled by modules that have to be programmed individually at the dealer.

But i would say get a donor, same year same engine that runs. Swap everything from the transmission and transfer case, all wiring and you would be on the right track. You might have better luck making your 2x4 a 4x4 with a part time transfer case from a liberty and the front 4x4 parts from a wrecked wk with the same gears as your wk.

You will end up with a truggy jeep wk that MIGHT work but will have issues.

Buy a 4x4 or start the project and just dig in. Trolling these forums with questions like yours will get you nowhere.
