Shifting trans manualy

All...have 2011 overland 5.7. Was out this weekend and was manually shifting the transmission (just on a whim), and noticed the shift from 2nd to third was almost like it didnt shift?? Didnt slip or anything but just seemed to give slight bump like it was shifting but RPM changed very minor amount only...about 1 or 200 is all? Tried it several tmes and same thing occurs. It is almost like 2nd and 3rd are near identical ratios OR my trans has issues also. Hoping that all are like this and not another problem. Can others let me know what their vehicle does on manual shift? When I then shift from 3rd to 4th, RPM drop quite a bit "as if" it shifts two at once. With normal driving and left in D, it feels ok but now unsure.

there is a varying amout of LOCKUP applied with the TC for every shift depending on all the factors including each and every persons driving technique that is tracked thru the adaptives.

so everyone MAY feel a different thing at the same speed or such but you MUST duplicate all the input parameters to DUPLICATE anything.

so my conclusion is you ask 100 people the same question abouve you'll get about 85 different answers which will prove nothing/

If you search the forums for 6 speed transmission you will find your answer as to why the gears seem very close. Its because they are. It has to do with the fact that there was a tsb that now makes the old five speeds shift like a 6 speed. So instead of using the alternative 2nd gear for down shifts only it now uses it for up shifts as well. Like I said search for it and you will get the actual gear ratios the reasoning behind the thought process of having two 2nd gears as well as some entertainment from reading the posts of the non believers. That is the people who can't grasp the idea that the old 4 speed the 5speed and the 6speed are all the same transmission with different programming.

Before everyone jumps my case I know that there is a six speed with different gears, but that's not the one I'm talking about. I'm strictly talking about the tranny in the '11.

Thanks for the info! I dont often "manually" shift the vehicle so I didnt notice the change after one of the TSB's done, i guess. Do you know why it doesn't seem to do this when in "D"?

Understand what you are saying, but, when manually shifting at any point from 2000 to 5000 RPM, it exibits this. Does not do the same thing when in "D" and letting it automatically shift. Never noticed this before however I believe JRoll1ns may have answered why.

Thanks.
