Chrome Side Steps

This has probably been discussed previously but rather than trawling through posts.....

Looking to add chrome side steps to make it easier for little ones to get in the back. Has anyone been able to get genuine steps supplied in Australia by someone other than Jeep with reasonable prices? I was going to get the dealer to install them and a towbar pre-delivery but had second thoughts at the time.

Did a very quick scan and saw a few on ebay in US but looking for someone local.

Also, does anyone know if installation is easy enough? Have read some posts where some have struggled though seems easy enough but it would be a matter of time vs getting someone else to do it.

While I'm at it has anyone also fitted a genuine towbar outside of their dealership?

That sounds reasonable enough for me, I'll get them installed when I book it in to get the steering thud and park brake switch repaired.

Purchased genuine Mopar chrome side steps out of China saved $450 compared to quote from local dealer, although AUD was about $1.07 at the time.

So Mopar actually get their side steps made in China?

Yes, Mopar part number in Mopar boxes, delivered five days after order, asked a couple of questions, answered straight away, excellent service.

Same experience here. Purchased via Ebay, delivered from China within a week. Excellent service and as far as I can tell original Mopar parts. Just waiting for my JGC now ;)

Trying to decide whether I want rock rails or side steps.

What do y'all reckon? I reckon Rock Rails with some Grip tape would be pretty good. (I'm already tall enough, I'm more looking for them so that I can park in carparks, change to OR 2 and that way protect my doors from getting binged in a carpark.

Also which ones jut out more? lawl

Hey hiland & pwyss

Thanks, good info, I can see them on ebay in China, based on current forex rate they're +/-A$500 which is fine.

Fitting instructions appear to be simple enough.

How much freight did they charge you? They're showing A$220....which is on the high side but I guess it is what it is in the end.

Hey, but if they're $500+/-, why don't you look at

http://www.justforjeeps.com/tusist4.html where they are only $386 (EDIT: for the black ones sorry, they're ~$500 for the Chrome ones). Plus I think there was a discount code going around the forum too

Paid around US$ 530 for the black ones including shipping. From memory, shipping alone was just below $200.
Price was not much better than from US based shops but shipping from US is way more and that makes the difference.
