Been waiting for 6 weeks for SRT to be built

About to give up. Still at "Production Scheduled" which means nothing. Could be scheduled for April for all I know. Any thoughts as to how fast they're working through the backlog?

EDIT: Sorry I just saw another thread saying 4 months +. I'm giving up. Can't wait that long for this thing.

do you expect it to be made as soon as you order? These are low volume Jeeps that are built to order.

Of course not, but I didn't think 4 months either. That's another 2.5 months until it's built so basically putting me past the winter time.

Well some members had to wait 6 months for their beasts and it wasn't easy for them as well, But according to those members it was definitely worth the wait

sorry...that probably sounded harsh...but not how i meant it. The SRt's are built on the same line as the other grand cherokees. Its a very hot selling vehicle right now. 14,000 last month. Plus the SRT uses low volume parts compared to the other grand cherokees. I expect build times to get better. I suspect that alot of the long wait times are due to most of the orders we are tracking that were ordered WAY before production started. Plus there are always problems with a new product and the parts needed to produce it. I jst went though this the last 2 weeks at my job. We had a simple alloy change....or so we thought. It was a nightmare and we still arent up to full production. Parts availability seems to be the biggest hold up with the SRT...which you expect with a low production vehicle.

I get it, but I kind of have a need for an SUV for now or soon. My dealer has a nice 2012 Overland V8 on the lot and they're willing to be aggressive ($6000 off MSRP) so I'm probably going to do that. Can always get an SRT in a year or two...

well it looks like a good deal, But it's not an SRT.
Have you looked around ?
I think you might be able to find one available for pick up instead of waiting for the one you've ordered.
If not, I guess you have no choice then but you can always trade her in for an SRT.
I know i'll be doing the same in a year or two.

There are plenty of SRT8's online at dealerships for sale right now. I am sure there is one out there that is ready to pick up with everything you want on it.

If you want an SRT8 do not get the Overland, I thought the same thing and while my Overland is nice I would have rather waited for what I wanted.

Agreed.

As stated by other members, there are some in dealer inventories. With year-end around the corner this could be a good opportunity to secure a good deal.

While I also purchased an Overland w/ Hemi, it is far from an SRT8. I will be upgrading within the next year. Hopefully the better MMI is standard (vs. the current unit).
