Semi-closed liftgate

Anyone have any ideas to close but not shut the liftgate? I have to pick up some wood that will prevent the liftgate from closing all the way. I don't have a trailer hitch but I do have a rear hook. I looked around the back of the liftgate but there is nothing to secre a strap or rope to. Any ideas?

I work at a lumber mill and have hauled wood before that didnt fit in my jeep. What i did is take a tarp and put it down on top the the jeep across the cross rails. Once it was stacked I folded the tarp up over the wood and secured it down with some twine. Worked find for me. Just an Idea.

Thanks j-rod. I thought of that but I do not have the crossrails.

If you're planning on putting the wood in the back of the back, I think the only thing you can do is to lay everything down, lay a blanket or something over the top of the wood, then lower the door and carefully take off.

I've had this come up before, and yeah, there's no way to strap down the door in a half-open position. Frustrating.

I need to replace closet and bedroom doors so the liftgate will not close.

You could remove the lift gate struts. That will help with tying it down.

pop the rear glass and let what you need hang out the back. Use the cargo area tie downs and some bungie cords to secure your load.

I was going to say the same thing but what he has might not be able to fit the the window.
