Prospective owner no longer

You may have (probably didn't) see my introduction thread where I said I was considering a new Grand Cherokee. Well, after much deliberation I am no longer considering a purchase........because I just did purchase one! Sorry for the theatrics, I'm just excited. :D

Sorry no pics yet, too tired, but here's what I got:
2012 JGC Limited 4x4 V8, white with "frost beige" interior
Luxury Group II
Adaptive Cruise Control
730N RHR Nav
Off-Road Adventure I
Power sunroof (the lame one, not the cool dual-pane) :(

Final negotiated price of the car was $40,100 after rebate but before tax, license, etc. I hustled the dealer into paying above Blue Book value for my old car by telling them I had a better offer from CarMax (lie ) so the trade-in equity was a hair over $6k. Final lease payment came to $455/mo for 36 mo with 15k miles/year and $21,700 residual value.

That's probably not a stellar monthly payment, but I have "below-average" credit due to some problems last year. Also our wonderful 8.75% sales tax here in CA. But I feel like I negotiated like a pro. Or at least a non-idiot. I held their feet to the fire over the fact that they told me on the phone that they had a Limited V8 4x4 in mineral grey when in fact they didn't. Then again, nobody else in So Cal has that car in that color either. I didn't tell them that white was my 2nd favorite color, although truthfully I would have REALLY preferred a black interior. According to TrueCar, factory invoice for my configuration is $42,200 without rebate, so 1100 under invoice isn't too shabby.

I really wanted a Limited because I can't stand the thin veneer covering on the Overland steering wheels. I love leather-wrapped wheels, and the finish on the veneer did not make my hands happy at all. Also I didn't want to deal with any potential problems with the air suspension that is mandatory on 4x4 Overlands. Yeah I know plenty of people haven't had any problems yet, but whatever it's not for me. So it turns out that the production of Limiteds is, well, limited. Judging by my extensive searching of dealer inventories, I'd say that 50% of the Grand Cherokees were Laredos, 40% Overlands, and 10% Limiteds. Maybe everybody buys the hell out of the Limiteds, I don't know, but dealers barely had any, let alone in 4x4 drive AND with a V8.

So I settled for white. Mineral grey looks so badass, and I'm jealous of everybody who has that color, but the white has really grown on me and I'm rather fond of my "shiny white stallion". And glad to have found this forum!

Congrats. I have a Limited for the same reasons. At the time my dealer had 85 JGC's in stock and none were Limiteds. But I wanted to order a factory fresh one anyway, which is what I did. 13,300 miles and no mechanical issues. Enjoy it. I know you will.

Believe me, I know the feeling! This morning my drive in felt like no time at all. "Aww I have to get out of the car already??"

For a while I really wanted to go that route, but the dealer wouldn't budge on pricing nearly as much as they did with the one on their lot. Which I guess I understand, but if they don't have to deal with it sitting in their inventory, who cares? I guess I ended up giving them what they wanted though...:( To date I have never purchased "THE car" that I absolutely wanted, re: color, trim, etc. One day.... Glad yours is problem-free!

Aww man, why'd you have to go and jinx me like that?? :D Actually it's already forgotten my home address once. Haven't checked the phonebook since I imported it.... It's not so bad, since I already expect that to happen, but WTF Jeep? (or whatever the company that makes these is called)

Haha it got me to notice the thread. Was interested to see why someone would opt out of a JGC and go with something else. Not that it would be a bad thing, everyone has their own personal choice and taste. But just curious, cause I can't think of a reason I'd opt for anything other than my Hemi Overland! :D

EDIT: Okay, if I didn't go offroad as often, I probably would have considered an SRT-8! :p
