2011 Jeep GC Hemi MDS issues
2011 Hemi hesitation/misfire problem---- Have had this issue since Oct 2010. I am having the problem with my 2011 GC Limited 4x4. Service dept didn't admit there was a problem when I returned it within the first week of ownership back in early Oct. I've finally got them to admit there is a problem but they can't figure out the reason or how to fix it. They are waiting for Jeep Engineers in Detroit to get back to them. I hope Chrysler stands behind their product!!! I went back to the dealership and service advisor said they had no other complaints. One of the mechanics was sitting there and he told me that it was difinitely the MDS system and there was no fix for it at this time. I have done a lot of research and there are a lot of blogging about this issue in all Chrysler/ Jeep/ Dodge vehicles with the Hemi MDS system I f you put it in tow/haul mode, or 5th gear, it will turn the mds off. I tried it and it seemed to work---but as we know I shouldn't have to do this.. Apparently it will affect gas mileage a little. Finally, Regional technician drove it and said it is normal MDS operation. This is crazy----hesitation is in Econ mode between 30-70 MPH. Everyone who rides with me asks why it has all the hesitation. It is getting worse. I love my 2011 jeep, but hate the Hemi engine with MDS. This is my 4th Jeep GC
and possibly my last.

Comments greatly appreciated!!

Re: 2011 Jeep GC Hemi MDS issues
1. If it is a real misfire the engine computer should be capable of seeing it, and log an service code. My 2000 dakota had a dirty plug and the coil pack was arcing throught the boot, took 2-3 minutes of missing and the check engine light came on. It actually told me the cylinder number, and it was a coil pack failure/misfire

2. If you are talking about the surge / miss / shudder sensation during cruise control, with MDS on, going up a hill 45-60 mph, feeling like the engine has no power - welcome to the club. They are working on it.

3. If it is a serious stutter / miss - beat the hell out of the dealer. Since you bought it in 2010, have you checked for any TSB's??

4. Since you bought it in 2010 and have been just deailing with it, you have probably missed your chance to return it.

I would chase the TSB's. Contact a good lemon law lawyer, and take to the dealer as many times as it takes.

Re: 2011 Jeep GC Hemi MDS issues
I just purchased a 2011 JGC and it has the same issue. Seems to be only in ECO mode and between 1300 and 1800 rpms. Currently working on getting the warranty changed over before I start asking the dealer questions. Pretty disappointed with the motor performance at this time. Love everything else.

It's a torque converter issue and there is no fix yet. Som heave it worse than others. Nothing to do with the hemi.

I've noticed it too with mine. It doesn't happen in sport mode really. Mine flutters up and down and seems like it's going to die. I wish the gearing was a little better too.

Re: 2011 Jeep GC Hemi MDS issues
my 05 Magnum with the Hemi and MDS never did this. I was very active in the LX forums and never remember anyone raising it as an issue. My 2012 GC does it. I'm not sure it is the motor.
