WK Front Parking Light Delete Mod?

Ok. We all know that the 3157 incandescent and LED bulbs have 2 functions.

-The parking lights that stay on all the time
-The second function is when the turn signal is turned on.

I was thinking that maybe a company could design a 3157 LED fixture that only light when the turn signal is triggered.

The point would be to eliminate glare in the housing. WK owners with projectors would definitely benefit from this. I got the idea from the headlamp delay when I turn on my WK. It's a very clean and clear look.

If there isn't something out there that does this already, tell me what you think.

To fix this issue all you need to do is remove one of the inner wires on the bulb. There are 4 wires on the bulb. The 2 outer wires go to the turn signal, the inner 2 go to the parking lights...just remove one and it breaks the circuit...doesn't matter which one!

I'm not so sure about removing wires from the harness. Lol. I know it will work but I would prefer an alternate route. I do have an extra wire harness for the headlamps though.

Not the harness wires, the bulb wires.

Oh ok. Yeah because the bulb has 4 sets of wires on the back of it.

I've been working on this for a while today and I'm not getting anywhere. I've been using electrical tape to cover each terminal lead at a time and I'm not accomplishing what I want.

Anybody have any ideas?

Ok, so here it is. After doing the tape test a million times, I finally got it to work.

I only taped 1 inner wire like Escape said but the still worked normally. So I taped both inner wires and now it's working.

Another thing I figured out was after looking into the socket, I see now why my tape test I did a long time ago were not working because as you can see in the picture below, the terminals on the fixture wrap around the bottom. When you look into the socket on the WK you will see that they not only connect on the sides but the round bottom portion of the terminal of the LED fixture as well.

Initially, I was only taping the sides.

I will be back with a video after I cut these leads.

Nice Man! I have the same thing done to mine. Since I have the LED strip as running lights it looked funny having those on too.

Yeah. And I though my headlights were too blue. The are 6000k. It turns out that the 6000k switchbacks were adding the blue to the housing. The 6000k HID's look better now.

And no glare. I'll never own a car with halogen housings again.
