Headlight issue UGH

Hi guys... so about 2 months ago my drivers side head light went out... i changed the bulb and changed the fuze but it still doesnt work. I did the HID upgrade about 6-8 months ago, maybe more... i cant remember if there is a relay somewhere that i need to change? Could it be the balast? what do you guys think...

thanks!

Dave

did you use 2 relays for the headlamps (one for each)? If you did it could be a relay, seems to be a common failure on mine, I keep trying to hide it from the elements better and water continues to find its way to it. If you have only one relay both headlamps wouldnt work if it was a relay problem (yikes!).

Cheap ballasts are a decently common failure too, you can test this by swapping ballasts take the known good and put it on that side, if it works you need a new ballast...

Oh the joys of cheap aftermarket lighting ha ha.

The relays on my harness dont match any relays on the wk while still being a very common relay size... If you have 2 relays you can swap them both and test, if the problem went to the other headlamp then you have found your problem. Typically I find when a relay goes bad there is some time where turning the lamps on and off a couple times will get it to turn on, its working the contacts in the relay until they get a decent connection.... If its just dead it could be any aforementioned problem, or wiring.

hmmm yah i could do that...

if my ballast stopped working i feel like it would not have any affect on my Fuse ... my fuse blew thats why i think its with the relay... one of the wires must be jacked up in there... make sense?

fixed it for you ;) fuze is a drink... fuse is an circuit protection device.

/grammar policing ;)

Yeah, wiring and the relay would be the place to look, make sure you dont have wires running agains a metal edge where vibration could allow them to rub through and ground out.
