ZG/ZJ External Spare Wheel Carrier
Still looking for a 4.7 to fit into Pam's GC Ltd. No luck yet, but getting close.
However, to give the canine hoard in the back a little more room, I've found a factory spare wheel carrier to move the spare outside. It fits into the towing hitch assembly and requires a couple of clearance holes to be cut into the plastic rear bumper cover. As this requires a neat bit of surgery and I have the surgical skills of a street sweeper, I'm hesitant to start without the necessary instruction sheet(s)......Does anybody in Jeep Land have this paperwork available for me? If so I will be very grateful and so will the dogs. I've tried Jeep in Australia and Chrysler in the States. I didn't even get a rude reply, let alone a useful one. Help?

Oh, "cheep jeep". I can't find a 318 for love or money. Plenty of 360's and even a 340. How close is that to a 318? Same block, but bigger holes? Saw them mentioned years ago,but don't know anything about them.

A 5.2 v8(318) was a pretty common factory option here in the states from '93 to '98 in the ZJ. I would have thought there would be a ton of them even over there. That would be the best swap since it came from a ZJ anyway.I had one in my '96.

Re: ZG/ZJ External Spare Wheel Carrier
Sorry about the spelling "Cheapjeep". I was at the computer at a silly hour and probably suffering from brain fade. 318's were available in later model Valiants in Oz, previously 273's, but that was in the 70's and 80's. All, to my recollection, ZG Jeeps had 4.0 sixes with four speed automatics. A (very) few of the last ZG's may have had V8 engines, but I'm only guessing. We were getting our cars one year behind the States so our '99 model is, in fact a '98 build date and from Austria (no, not Australia, but Austria) in Europe. Apparently all of the right hand drive Jeeps were made there, with the possible exception of your US postal delivery Jeeps so they could be driven with the driver at the kerbside. Anyhow, I'll see what I can find in the way of V8's and then continue to pick your brains.....

Now, can anybody help me with the fitting instructions for the spare wheel carrier?......Please?

Maybe shoot milous a pm. He works for Jeep corporate and may be able to dig up something on the tire carrier.
