Yakima rack ordered

I ordered the Yakima round bar, 48" - $63 amazon and the Yakima rail grab tower $148 amazon.
There is a jeep that I have seen driving around that has the Yakima wind deflector on the front of the racks. I'm not sure of the length of the wind defector.
Does anyone know the length of the wind deflector (I think they come in 38, 42, 46 inches) that would be the right fit for the jeep?
Anything else I need to get to attach the Yakima racking system?

Re: Yakima rack ordered

Yes, there is a special attachment needed for the WK2, P/N 8880201.

I also just bought the Yakima setup and I would encourage you to get the 58" bars. The 48" is barely wider than the tracks and the 58" doesn't extend beyond the doors. I don't like the extra wide racks on some vehicles and the 58's are perfect. (Plus, how would you tie down plywood on a rack only 48" wide?)

As for the special attachment, there are 2 parts that come in that bag - a 'leg' (upper) and a 'foot' (lower). I don't think the foot is used as the instructions clearly show the peg being used with a hole, which the WK2 doesn't have. I think the special leg is used with the smallest claw that comes with the towers.

HTH.

Part number 8880201 takes me to part number 8000138 on the Yakima website.

Part number 8000138 is the part number I ordered.

Is there another item I'm missing?

Yes, 8000138 is just the tower that comes with several universal legs and feet. Give Yakima a call and they'll help you.

Also you might want to stop by the other Jeep forum and do a search on 'Yakima Roof Rack'. Someone there has fitted a 38" fairing and has the P/N also.

Just talked to Yakima and they're sending me the part I need for free.

Put my Yakima rack on tonight. Drove to dinner no faster than 45mph. Noticeable wind noise (I guess anything is more noticeable when originally there was nothing in the roof).

I'm sure I will be looking for a solution.

Is a faring the best option? Anything else come to mind?

Was thinking about buying the cargo box.

The wind noise at 80 is unbearable!!!!

Kafly, I used the 44" Yak fairing, and a 58" set of bars trimmed down. IMO a fairing is a must for any vehicle with a rack. Many also swear by the rooftop cargo boxes. YMMV. More than you ever wanted to know below:

Just put the Yakima faring on a few minutes ago. I'll report back if it helps with the wind noise. Not crazy about the way it looks but it might make the travels manageable.

Yakima faring helps a lot. Still not as quiet than having nothing up there but so far i like it. now i need to determine if i want to buy the rocketbox.

3 Attachment(s)
Just saddled up my Yakima roof rack... love the look! Took all of 20 minutes to install with the low clamps. drove down the road at 50mph and did notice some extra noise. The noise was not very bad at all and tolerable at 50mph. Ill hit the interstate soon and give another ride report.
I installed the front 1"5/8 from the front of the rail and 32" in-between the two rails...
