Solution for Jammed Rear Center Seat Belt

I have had the rear center seat belt on my 2005 WK jam twice in the past few months. The 1st time they replaced the entire seat belt/retractor assembly ($300 parts and labor ... ouch!), and that worked for 10-15 uses before jamming again.

The dealer fixed it a no cost and said the small button on the rear center seat belt (during release) slips past the plastic retainer/belt guide on the top of the seat ... resulting in the belt retracting too far and jamming. (This was likely done to my grandson, now older at age 6, more aggressively letting the belt "snap back" when unhooked.

My solution was to purchase a slightly larger "button" (a plastic screw and spacer assembly with an acorn nut) and "punch" this in through the belt fabric just ahead of the factory "button". This should keep the belt from retracting too far and jamming. We'll see!

Re: Solution for Jammed Rear Center Seat Belt

my experience with the same issue is that it is caused by a problem in rear seat fold down latch.
unlock the rear seat. fold it down and then slam it back into place.
