My 2012 Jeep SRT8 - So far its kinda been a nightmare

Well I haven't really been able to enjoy my Jeep. Here is a quick outline why....

Tuesday December 20th
- Picked car up
- Stains on dash board unable to get out need to replace
- Driver’s side, passenger front fender flare in back seat adhesive dried up....need to replace
- Missing bright pedals

Thursday December 22nd
- Car displays engine light, FCW OFF, SVC 4WD on EVIC and goes into limp mode - locks into Manual 4 (can't up or downshift), won't go over 20mph - little to no acceleration
- Towed to service department with 75 miles on the odometer.

I had to go to the northeast for the holidays so the car was towed to the dealership the day I left. The dealership had the car from Dec 22 - 31st.

Saturday December 31st
- Picked car up from service with 142 miles on the odometer!!!! The dealership put 67 miles on the car with no apparent explanation. It's a holiday weekend and none was around to vent my complaint! One tech said thats weird because they only put a max of 25 miles testing a new car fix.

(I am suspicious either someone from the dealership used it to tool around or they gave test drives in it. Either way I AM PISSED!)

- FIX: Required new hydraulic pressure switch in transmission

I went over the car...
- They got the bright pedals in and installed (only good news)
- New dash was installed but new one has three separate pull spots, a tearin the leather and was filthy...have to order ANOTHER ONE!
- Screw missing/installed incorrectly in speedometer panel
- Paperwork on car missing, apparently the service manager has it and he went home early.
- Small chip in the front right wheel.

It has been really hard for me with it being the holidays and no one around to resolve or give me explanations. I am so mad and my patience is wearing thin....the transmission is fixed and I have been driving it around and so far its driving great....but not the $60,000 quality that I expected. Anyone know Ralph Gilles phone # or email....i'd love to talk to him.

I have called Jeep Customer care more times than I can count on two hands...they have been somewhat helpful...but again...its the holidays....

Sorry to hear you're having all these issues! :( Sucks to see but not totally surprised being a first model year but the reality is, with todays technology, R&D team capabilities and the $60k+ price tag, it is just unacceptable. Someone/thing in QA should have caught all these issues before it was cleared, but I think you are handling it properly in being patient and following protocol, no need to cause a huge scene . . .YET.

They should be treating this as a priority issue being a first MY and also with their new customer service policies and all that "better service" bologna they are pitching.

Either way hope you get it sorted which I'm sure you will, otherwise a new Jeep may be in order ;) Keep us posted though - and good luck!

Yeah, mine showed up with a broken transcooler and no power steering fluid. But my dealer handled it well.....it just delayed me taking delivery by 10 days or so!

I go back and talk so much shit. Who the **** put 67 miles on your car. I'm willing to bet the REALLy took it for a spin. Assholes.

Sorry but I put myself in your shoes when I read that. Pissed me the **** off.

i would be flipping out over the mileage! looks like some tech took if for a joyride. seems like everything else has been handled properly for a first MY...... but looks like chrystler QC still sucks.

I wouldn't get too upset about the mileage...if they had to take it on the highway to check several of the problems out, as long as they fixed them, I'd be OK with it. Maybe they thought they fixed it, but didn't and had to take it out again.

My guess is that the service manager/tech/GM/owner drove the vehicle home a few of the nights to check and make sure all is OK. Not a bad or uncommon thing so long as they treat it well, but they should at least inform you of this beforehand.

I would suggest openng up a formal case with Chryco. Not only should they solve all your legit concerns, but they should give you someting else for your troubles, such as a comp extended or lifetime warranty. Hope it works out.

I have a Case Manager and Case # @ Chryco. Also contacted SRT Group.

Thumbsup. I hope all similar issues are elevated to Chryco if needed by both 2012 SRT8 and WK2 owners. Chryco bargained for a more demanding customer with these new generation, higher priced rigs. IMO the only way Jeep keeps up with that premise is if they are held accountable.

Much has been made of the over-complaining from the new WK2 crowd, but a good portion is warranted. Closing the service gap to the Japanese and German auto companies will start and end with the customer being vocal where appropriate.

Rant over, sorry. FWIW, Jeep is doing a good job keeping up with these new platforms and take pride in them. Hope you will be able to say the same, GregSRT8.

That sucks. Mine has been pretty good so far, the only issue I noticed is that it looks like one of the calipers were scratched when putting the wheel on. Not a big deal though. Hopefully they get everything fixed for you.
