Hemi oil viscosity... One fussy Jeep!

Just interesting tid bit, was at the dealer yesterday having the rear flipper glass issue looked at, switch was full of water by the way, ordering a new one with a better seal.... l hope, anyway on the diagnostic printout below the switch issue was a note "incorrect engine oil installed". It can tell the difference between 5w-20 and 5w-30 oil which l have in it, dealer installed, full synthetic, which l agreed to, i know 5w-20 is supposed to be used for the MDS, owners manuel says 5w-20 is recommended but 5w-30 is ok.... Not much difference between the two as far as I'm concerned, though my Jeep has other ideas.....

its coruios "all" dealer in europe use 5w30 with the hemi engine and it works. no issue with the mds.

IIRC the MDS is quieter with the 5.20. maybe not better as i originally posted.

in 2007 they changed the whole fleet from 5-30 to 5-20 here just to meet CAFE fuel standards so I agree with you it ALL sounds fishy YET his jeep KNEW it had the 5.30 so........

I lost 2l/100 on the highway with 5-30 I want the 5-20 back in it.
