ABS Brakes

Hey guys i was wondering what i can do to check for my ABS brakes because my ABS light went on and for some past history about my brakes i replaced them and my dad was heloing me out and he stripped one of the caliper bolts and it snapped off and really screwed up my rotor and my 20 inch rims. i did replace the caliper and also i have the shitty calipers of the WJ .

Sorry i have not had alot of experiance with ABS so any feedback on what i could would be great

thanks so much

Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor, but I think you would need to go to the dealership to get the codes pulled from the ABS computer. You could also try pulling off the negative battery cable for a few minutes to reset the computers and see if the light comes back.

A decent newer OBD II reader will also read ABS codes. If you don't want to deal with the dealer you can go to a auto parts store and use the scan tool loaners that some have. Or buy one for yourself. I use mine all the time!

Re: ABS Brakes

Sometimes a lot of dirt on the pickup teeth close to the sensor will already cause the ABS light come on. Also check the connectors, because they are in a hostile environment and could be corroded or dirty.

This happened to me after going through a field with high grass. Weeds got wrapped up in there and tripped the light. Removed the debris and after a few miles the light went out.
