Aux Lighting or HID Fog setup?

I was all set on picking up a set of the Hella 500 Black lamps and installing them behind the front grille as a blatant copy of Jayloops setup, until I stumbled across and HID discussion on one of the forums and saw how inexpensive it would be to just install HID bulbs.

I had a set of 3000K fog bulbs in my last car and it was great for bad weather which is pretty much the only time I use my fogs anyways. As you know, the WK headlights leave a little bit to be desired but the factory fogs are actually pretty decent - in fact better than the last few cars I've owned. So this leads me into my possible options. The "behind the grille" lights would be used on the street and not for off roading - essentially replacement fogs for bad weather, or additional lights for TERRIBLE snow

a. Stick with original plan - Hella 500 Blacks with yellow 55w bulbs, stock fog lights
b. Swap 3000k HIDs into fog lights
c. Swap 3000K HIDs into fog lights and add the 500's for aux lighting
d. Other

What kit did you go with for your fogs? I was looking at the DDM kit since it was so reasonably priced, but didn't know what kind of bulbs/extras I would need in their offerings.

for those of you suggesting both, which is all of you, would you recommend the fog light version or the drivng light? Also, would the grille lights be a bit excessive looking with very little else done to the vehicle?

Looks like he needs to see the "off road lights" thread. On my iPhone so can someone link it here for him prease?!

It all depends on what kinda light you really want. I've got an assortment of driving and wide patterns.

I vote for both! But if you can only do one right now do the fogs and then get the spot pattern and put them behind the grill

I LOVE my fogs!!!

I used the ddm kit, you don't need anything its plug and play. People can hate on ddm all they want but the kit was very nice quality and is going on 8 months trouble free for me.

I saw that they have a $35 kit on their website, so you were able to just pick the bulb size without any of their extra adapters or harnesses or anything?
