My Fall 2009 paint correction-Meguiers m105/205, #21 and P21s Carnuaba

Fall 2009 paint correction-the spring paint correction was a long, hard drawn out process. This time I went for the new Meguiers professional series M105 and M205. But first...lets get it clean, stripped and ready for the clay bar...

I love the Chemical Guys Citrus wash + gloss for stripping--

-clean and in the garage ready for the clay---

-only the best...Meguiers clay bar kit

-spray the panel down and work the clay until the panel is smooth and the bar slips over the surface. Its important to use plenty of lube on the panel. Dont be shy with it.

time for the M105. At first I tried the yellow Lake country pad and didnt see the results I needed. So I switched to the orange pad....and "voila"....instant wet look..

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion1009031.jpg
-first---tape up your black moldings so not to stain them....
http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion1009032.jpg
http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion1009033.jpg
-then go to work...I was liberal with the M105 compound. I like to prime the pad and work it into the pad with my fingers. I then set the Porter Cable on the panel and then fire it up. I found the best results running the PC on 5. I would make 2 passes vertically and horizontally using medium force and then make the same passes just letting the machine do its thing. If you run the PC too long the M105 tends to dry...so move quickly...but steady. Then wipe down with a high quality plush microfiber. Here are some results....

Re: My Fall 2009 paint correction-Meguiers m105/205, #21 and P21s Carnuaba

And now time for the best product of the two. The M205 is absolutely the best polish I have ever used. My trucks paint looks the deepest and wettest that it has ever looked. The M105 and M205 combo is by far....IMHO...the best out there at the moment. Two reasons...ease of use and perfromance. All I have to do now is seal the paint with my Mequiers pro series #21 sealant and then top it with my P21s Carnuaba...but that will be tomorrow and Monday.

For the M205 I used the same speed setting as the M105....."5" I also used the Lake Country black finishing pad. But with the M205 I used light-medium pressure on the first vertical and horizontal passes...then switched to "let the machine" do its thing....just guiding it horizontal and vertically. I think the results speak for themselves....

The next step in my opinion is the most important....the sealant. I like to use the Meguiers Pro series 2.0 Synthetic sealant #21. I also like to put on 2 coats ...allowing each proper drying and cure time. I let the #21 dry and haze for about an hour and then cure for four hours on the first coat.(only if the temp is above 70....longer if below 70)I have a heated and cooled garage...so cure time is a little shorter for me. When nI mention cure time...I am speaking of the time the sealant is allowed to cure after the haze is removed. The second coat of #21 sealant I like to let cure overnight to get the maximum protection.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...orrect2066.jpg

I apply the sealant lightly with overlapping strokes with a quality foam pad by hand. I like to remove the hazed sealant with the Lake Country blue supersoft foam pad. Its quick and easy....

now to the pics.....this is after the secodn hazed coat has been removed. This is not the final finish and I havent done the wheels etc. These pics are just to show the finish after the hazed 2nd coat of sealant has been removed.
