2012 GC Srt8 - iphone 4S Phonebook issue

I am new to the Uconnect and this is my first experience. Just got my 2012 Grand Cheroke SRT8 and paired the iphone 4S. The phonebook is downloaded but I dont see the contacts displayed on the screen when I opt for list contacts. Is it this normal and only voice activated ? It reads all my contacts from the phonebook, but don't see the names displayed on the screen.

Thanks,
JG

I'm also having issues with Uconnect and the phonebook when paired to the Iphone 4S with IOS5. My vehnicle is equipped with the 730n RHR. Many of my frequent contacts are duplicated. I'm pretty sure the problem is due to the fact that I have friends in my MS Outlook contacts and my phone book.

I changed my bluetooth sync settings on the Iphone for the Uconnect connection to Sync contacts and only sync Phone Favorites and selected "None" under Other Groups. Now the only people that sync to Uconnect at the people I flag as a favorite on the Iphone and I have no more duplicate names.

However, I do still have issues with the way Uconnect interprets names...LOL! For example, the last name "McEuen" is pronounced "mmSuin" and "Terry" is pronounced "turry". Once you learn to speak in Uconnect's bizarre language the handsfree dialing works well. But there was a lot of frustration before I got to that point. Maybe I should spell names phonetically in the Iphone phonebook :-)

This is normal for both the 430 and 730's. The phonebook is downloaded for voice calling not on screen viewing.

Will it work to ask it(730) to navigate to someones house that is stored in my contacts?

I don't think so, because I have several addresses stored in my phone, and unless the address is saved to the GPS, it won't navigate.

Well I may have the same issue or related. I have a wk2 Overland and the RHR 730N. When I first paired, it sync'd and downloaded my Contacts from my Iphone 4S iOS5.

It worked great, I was impressed. Plug and Play. Even when I went into the truck and UConnect came up I would see it rush out and sync the phone book for updates.

But not any more. It has stopped doing that now for some reason. I have had to pair and re-pair a few times when things get wacky and that has not fixed it or could have messed it up.

I have changed contacts and they are still the same spellings and names as before.

I am going to try unpairing and pairing again. But it should not require that every time. The OG says that it should sync automagically each time the BT receiver finds your phone and connects.

I did notice the software revision for the 4S is not up to iOS5 on the Jeep.com/Uconnect site. 4.something.

If any of you know a way to force sync or have seen this do tell.

Btw, on the 730N you can see and list your contacts on screen using voice command or touch screen. I have not found a way to use the addresses in the Garmin GPS side. Just not an interface between the two.

We are all so used to our phones being so integrated and with links to get maps or directions, the car Nav systems are so far behind still. Part of the problem is most are not internet enabled. Still just a GPS Sat receiver, SAT radio, and fancy hands free cell phone tool. Someday :D
