2012 GC Nav - Can it show speed limit?

I have a new 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland with a Media Center 730N SAT/CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV...Does this model show the speed limit? I cannot find anywhere to change any settings. My husband has a 2011 Jeep Wrangler and the Nav seems so much nicer. Am I missing something?

Not available on the 730N. The Garmin 430N has that capability.

Thank you. Do you happen to know if the 2 can be switched easily? My husband does not care about the speed limit but I do. Also, do you know if mine on the Grand Cherokee has anything his does not. You are correct he has the 430N.

Thanks again!

The differences have been covered widely here if you search the forums a bit...As for switching the two units, it's not a direct swap as the UConnect modules are different or completely seperate for one unit. The 730N has dead-reckoning and I think real-time traffic updates. Again some of the threads have gone into much better detail between the two.

Here is a top level treatment on the differences between the two nav units: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_navigation.htm

Personally, I think that the 730N is a better device. The speed display screen is missing, but then, you do have two other speedometers in your vehicle. ;)

Just to further what berk483 mentioned: the 430N uses an external uconnect module whereas the 730N has uconnect built in. A conversion harness is required to mate the 430N-uconnect-module type vehicle harness in your vehicle to the 730N. This is detailed on the bottom of the page linked above.

There is, then, also the issue of adapting the other vehicle to the 730N. And, finally, your 730N is likely to be secured with an anti-theft feature that will trip when moved to another vehicle/VIN.

Oops, I didn't realize that the 430N's speed display screen included the posted speed limit - so never mind that part of my reply. :) I agree, that's kinda cool. I'd still keep the 730N, though. Cheers!

That is one thing I miss too from my 430 in my limited. The traffic has been a lifesaver though on my 730 so I guess it washes out.

Yeah, the 430N displays the speed limit, but not on every single road - only major roads. Lots of back roads and secondary roads and whatnot - no speed limit data is available, from what I've seen with it.
