Torgue converter question
As far as I know WK2 with V6 don't have torque converter and those with Hemi do.

Can anyone explain why it is needed on WK2 with Hemi but not on WK2 with V6?

If its an auto trans it has a torque converter. It can't function without one.

Re: Torgue converter question
Then I may be wrong in my original post. The reason I assumed WK2 with V6 doesn't have torque converter is that a lot of conversations about infamous "shudder" issue mention V8 and torque converter. Torque converter is never mentioned with V6.

Re: Torgue converter question
A auto tranny requires a torque converter, everyone has one... Think of it as performing the same job as a clutch in a stick shift. When you slow down it slips and when stopped it disengages the engine and tranny. If it wasn't there, the car would stall everytime you came to a stop and would jump forward when starting the car.

I'd guess the V8 models have a different tranny, if they are the only ones with this problem. The V6 WK had the same tranny as the SRT8 and the V8s had a different tranny 5-45RFE like the WJ. Like I say though, I know nothing about the issue or what tranny is in what. Check

Hope that helps.

All automatic transmissions have one that's the way the engine can keep running when the vehicle comes to a stop. the v8 has a different one than the v6 a well as different programing
