4.7L Vs. 5.7L Hemi

How big of a difference in gas mileage between the 4.7L and the 5.7L Hemi?

it all depends on how you really drive......im pretty sure its not to drastic in comparison ,considering all jeeps get pretty bad gas milage.....

agreed with SvenskaJeepGuy, with my normal driving I've seen 2 mpg difference on an unmodified wk. ( I had both the hemi and the 4.7 ) . Biggest difference is off the line at a light, if you normally floor it the hemi will go fast and drink the appropriate gas to do so.

5.7 is a lil worse than the 4.7 in mpg but it will give you more smiles per gallon lol

Re: 4.7L Vs. 5.7L Hemi

Due to Areo Drag, the MDS works best in the 40-60 miles per hour range. At those speeds, some folks report a soild 21mpg, which beats my best by 2 mpg in my 4.7 Gen 2, at 19mpg without the MDS. The Hemi has more power, and on paper seems to be the more efficent package. But the intial cost increase at the time I bought mine, I could not justify paying a good 4K for another 25-30HP. Which, since I bought mine used and it had 40K miles vs the Hemi at 50K miles, mine a 2008, and the Hemi a 2009, the Hemi looks like it will carry a better resale as well. I.E., the Hemi was a year newer and had been driven alot more, but resale was quite a bit higher. I think both do great for the performance you get in a vehicle this heavy and capable from the factory:)

beast, not sure....does it run ok, yeah....i did walk away from my dads 06 superduty with a bully dog on extreme and exhaust. But I have owned a couple 4 cylinders that would leave my jeep standing still. I honestly am one that is not impressed with the hemi power and do regret not buying a srt8. I have modded mine some and yes they do make a difference, but not enough to consider my jeep "fast"
