V6 Intake Shield?

1 Attachment(s)
I know it's been discussed in the past, but was it ever determined if the V6 should have a deflector in front of the Intake to keep water from entering? When changing the oil yesterday, I noticed that there is some residue where it looks there might have been something in place there at one time. The jeep is only 2mos old so it's hard to believe that it either fell off or was removed by dealer.

Looks missing. It is only glued on, so it's likely only a matter of time before it gets blown away or sucked into the intake. Awhile back it was indicated that later production 2012 WK2s have a shield molded into the underlying flat panel. No idea whether that's actually the case, 'cuz our early 2012 uses the glued-on foam block.

The place is for the "snow blocker" though there is debate on this site about whether it is really for snow or water.

In any case, it was added to the 2011 model year about 1/2 or 2/3 the way through (first as a glued on foam part, later as a molded part), but GCs built before that time do not have it. My OL does not have the part and I don't plan on adding it.

Here's an old thread about it:

Thanks. My Overland was built during one of the last weeks for the '11 model, so it must have been glued and fell off. I'll ask the dealer the first time I take it in for serv.

Might see if they will install the new version instead of just gluing on a new foam block.

My '12 has a rubber molded seal sort of thing in front. I'll try and get a picture later if I can run down to the garage.
