Radar Hardwire
 
I am trying to hardwire my radar to the top dome lights wires the pink and black one and i figured it would go off when my key is turned off but i tried it and its not working which one of those wires will work like that and which one will be my ground. can someone please help me this is really frustrating no one seems to jump to help the new guy!

I would just run it down the A pillar to the interior junction block then use one of these:

Yea I could but I like the clean look through the too right where the windshield wire is connected..anyone help? I need to fix this

I need to know which wire in the dome light cover will make my radar turn off with the key and on with the key right now it has to be manually turned on and off it's a pain in the a**!

Without having looked at the dome lamp, there is not a key on power, its constant power... thats why you can turn them on without the key on... if you have a sunroof then you may be in luck for key on power but again I haven't looked at the diagrams but I REALLY dont like tapping into a module power source, your asking for trouble.

btw how is it not clean, its behind the A pillar?

I didn't realize what you meant yea that is clean I just already did it this way so im going to keep it like that...i do have a sunroof maybe this is the one that will give me luck so that when i turn the key on it turns on and the key off it turns off through the power source?? let me know thnx for your help again.

Last time I had a radar detector and got stopped the policeman, he ask me to start my car and then his partner sent a signal to see if my car would beep. I wasn't able to turn it off without being seen, he was looking at me. 300$ fine and a radar detector. I wasn't even speeding.
There are two solution install with a hidden switch preferably close to 4 wheeldrive low switch so that you can turn it off without being noticed. It means doing some serious rewiring. OR don't speed.

or live in a free country where they just LAUGH at your radar detector as they hand you the ticket/

Man they really did that..... F the police... I have a escort radar hard wired along the top of the windsheild and though the a pillar. Easy.....looks stock and really good I'll get u some pics later..... Lol

+1 and no pulling of the overhead console - the add a fuse is great - have them on my BMWs

ETA: anyone with pics of install along the A-pillar, please post it?
