Should Jeep make a "Black Edition" Grand Cherokee Overland?

How about this: Overland with Black Olive Ash Wood Trim, Black Nappa Leather Interior, Black licensce plate brow, black grill, painted Black Clear Coat including new fenders and bumpers painted black clear coat (no more plastic). Black clear coat door handles and mirror covers.

Please vote. Feel free to comment too.

They could offer it in Brilliant Black Pearl Coat (in addition to Black Clear Coat) too.

Voted yes and an all black GC including trim/bumpers/mirrors/door handles would look pretty aggressive.

I recently purchased a 2012 brilliant black Overland. I'm working on getting most everything black on it. I ordered black wheels which actually arrived before my Jeep did. I hate the chrome grill, license plate brow, the chrome mirror caps and the chrome door handles. As part of the deal, the dealer is supposed to trade out the mirror caps and door handles for me. I'm having the license plate brow painted body color. I saw a Jeep in the Mopar booth at SEMA which they had named it something like the Diamond Edition or Diamond Black Edition (I cannot remember exactly) - the license plate brow was body color as were the mirror caps and door handles. The grill was a nice titanium color as well as the window trim and wheel fenders which also match the wheels (one off set of factory 22" Overland whees). I posted pics here: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f110/sema-photos-14676-4.html.

For the grill, I was going to paint it black, but am concerned about rock chips that might happen easily after painting the plastic chrome surface. So I might look into purchasing an SRT8 grill because I do like that grill with very little chrome. After tinting the windows I have decided to make the window trim black as well. Just waiting for the shop to get more black vinyl in as they were out of it. I'm thinking it will be easier to do that rather than try and have it removed and painted somehow.

The one other think I noticed which I now want black, but am not sure of the cost - is the headlight bezel trim. On the SRT8 models it is black and on my Overland it is chrome. I have not inquired as to how much replacement headlights are. IMHO, that would be another item Jeep should make black on a "Black Edition" if they were to be smart, read this forum and make one.

You could always plasti-dip it.

I did consider that as well as painting it and having 3M or some other brand of paint protection film put on it. The reason I don't think I will pasti-dip it is that it won't match anything else on the Jeep. Mirrors, door handles, and license plate brow will be body color.

I voted YES.

Personally, I think they should remove MOST of the chrome currently on the WK2.

I think having color matched parts is much better than chrome.

A black edition would be a good replacement for a lower trim level.

It would be good to replace the 70th since they are all 2011 Model

But the Black Edition should not be all black
  • It should be either a Laredo or Limited trim
  • Brilliant black exterior Color
  • The wheels should be a Smoked chrome using the 70th Anniversary 20" wheels
  • The trim around the window should be blacked out
  • the tailgate brow should be smoke chrome
  • They could use the Srt-8 grille with smoked chrome bezels
  • Blacked out SRT-8 Headlights
  • Body colored door handles and mirrors
  • Body colored side moulding
  • The interior could be a variation of the 70th anniversary using black and dark stone.
  • With it's own black edition badge.

^^I'd be fine with that as long as they use Nappa leather, HID headlights, Turn signal indicators, memory seats, auto dimming exterior mirrors, cooled/ventilated seats, power tilt / telescoping and heated steering wheel, and power liftgate.

An all black version would definitely look sinister and probably really appeal to the buying public.

Detailers everywhere would be happy :)

i'm taking delivery of my BB overland this week. i just emailed my dealer to ask if he would swap out the mirror covers and door handles as well. that would make me so happy. don't care as much about the door handles but i *hate* the mirror covers.
