Rattling in rear

So, I've noticed an annoying rattle coming from the cargo area in my Summit. Initially, I thought it was the rear hatch either not closing properly or having ice somewhere along the track. I finally realized that it's the jack from under the cargo floor. Apparently, it's kept in a styrofoam form and lays unsecured inside the spare wheel.

Has anyone else had excessive noise from this? How did you remedy it?

After I first brought mine home I had a rattle. Didn't have it during the first 20 or so days. Turned out when I put the rear license plate on it was rattling. Dealer put some rubber stuff behind it and the rattle stopped.

Re: Rattling in rear

I have several items in the spare tire well that could rattle - like a collapsable 4-way lug wrench. I wrapped that in 1 layer of duct tape to secure it nice & tight. It doesn't rattle and it is fairly easy to take off in case I need it. It leaves everything sticky when you remove it but since I hope I never need it anyway that isn't a big deal. Other items I tuck away so they won't touch or rattle.

I also found that my cargo cover rattles a bit. More of a plastic type rattle though. Just pointing it out because it took me a while to figure out.

I would say use a blanket or towel to wrap that wrench, then if you ever need a towel or blanket you have one there as well.
