WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
Hey Guys,

I just bought some new OEM headlights to outfit with FX-R HID projectors, I m waiting for my new camera cord to upload pics but I have one headlight done and these things make the stock headlights look like a nightlight! Overall it has been pretty easy to retrofit so far. Working on the 2nd light right now but I'll have pics posted soon so stay tuned. Since its pretty simple if you have the right tools, I'm debating building and selling these to forum members for $525. This price would include new OEM housings, projectors, bulbs, ballasts, shrouds and a relay harness so it'd be plug in play. Let me know if you are interested!

You must post up pictures! I have only seen a few retro-fits on WJ's.

It looks SAWEET! I love them. I went with 50w ballasts instead of 35 and 6000k bulbs. Im working on the drivers side as we speak so I'll make sure to get some pics etc.

1) Yes, you will love them and If you're making them why do you want to sell them? I also give you mad props for taking the time to do it yourself unlike a lot of these tools who just ship it off to a professional and claim they themselves did the work lol.

2) FX-R's are sweet and I would imagine you have the newest 1.1 version. I saw a cool retrofit a guy did on his WJ that used the FX-R's and he coupled them with the E-46R shrouds and it looked damn sick.

3) Did you ever consider the FX-45's? I wonder if there is much of an output difference between the FX-R's and the FX-45's.

4) Also what are you using for each category?

Ok guys here is the setup and going to list these for sale as I am actually selling my Jeep now lol. These things have tons of color flicker right out of the box and the lights themselves look purple to the eye.

These were retrofitted into brand new OEM WJ headlight housings.

Projectors - FX-R w/Clear Lens
Shrouds - Bullet
Ballasts - Morimoto 50w Ballasts with D2S connector
Bulbs - Morimoto 50w 6000K lights
Harness - 9006

Pictures kind of suck since I took them with my iphone.

Those look awesome, About what mine looks like. I'm not a fan of the bullet shroud but it looks good. I'm pretty sure you have the FX-R 1.1's and I've heard they're much improved. How long do think your retrofit took?

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
They are the 1.1's I couldnt decide on shrouds so I just decided on those since they were different. It took me 2 days of working on them little by little, all said in done it could be done in a few hours.

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
Sounds good, When I did mine I ordered a pair of headlights from Amazon so they weren't OEM ones. Did you order a spare set of OEM one's why you worked on them? How much did they run you?

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
Yeah I bought a new set of "OEM STYLE" as they were much easier to open than the OEMs. I paid $82 shipped from AM-AUTOPARTS on ebay. $82 was for both combined not per light.

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
That's the best bet. OEM's are still $300 some a piece which is outrageous. How did you go about setting up the Solenoid? Did you just wire it into the high beam?

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
Yep just tapped it right in, piece of cake. I bolted the projectors into place as well, no need to use all that adhesive. They dont bounce around at all.

Re: WJ Projector Retrofit Underway!
Hell yeah man! I'm sure you'll love every moment of having those from here on out and I would like to personally congratulate you for doing the work yourself. You easily cut out like $300-$400 in labor.

When you get some spare time and have a camera on hand maybe snap some night shots. I'm sure people would really enjoy and appreciate what a retrofit can do. :)
