Air suspension must be disabled for lifting?

According to the manual, air sus must be diabled by pushing both "up" and "down" buttons at the same time.

Then when I took it to the dealer last week, they said it's ok to to lift it without disabling and the car will disable the sus by itself.

Is this true? I thought we always have to disable the sus before lifting it.

I do not think it will harm anything if they don't, but it is standard procedure to lock the suspension before lifting the Jeep in any way.
