Fuel Pump problems?
I have a 2005 WK Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (approx 100,000 miles). Last night my Jeep was really close to empty so I went to fill it up. I put about 14 gallons in it and after I got back in and started it up, it read *past full*. I know that couldn't be correct since the tank is roughly 19 gallons and it was REALLY close to empty (well in the red) when I filled it.

After about 5 minutes of driving it kept swinging between half and completely full but eventually leveled out to where I thought it looked right (about 3/4 full) so I drove home about 5 min away and parked it for the night. This morning I got in and it read normal for a few miles and then all of a sudden it swung rapidly to completely empty and the "LOW FUEL" indicator came on in EVIC. It's been reading completely empty ever since with '0 miles to empty', low fuel EVIC indicator, & the needle being completely at the bottom of the red.

I've done the "key jiggle" but there are NO CODES (its just reads 'DTC' then 'dOnE ------'). Any idea what this issue is? I'm kinda hoping it will go away on its own after a few drive cycles but I'm doubting it.

Perhaps I should mention that my dash has been removed recently due to a bad heater core. Could it be a bad connection or the more likely problem of a faulty fuel level resistor or sending unit... etc etc..??

Re: Wacky fuel gauge!!
Just drove it again tonight. The gauge slowly swings back and forth from beyond full, to below empty, to accurate, and everything in between. You can actually see it moving if you watch closely.
