Do you have a diablo trinity or a way to monitor the engine?
Any codes?
As for the ticking did you check the oil level?
Serviced recently? What was done?
Battery dying?
There is a lot that could be going on in many different systems...or it could just be a freak problem that will go away...no idea man.

Drive for a bit and see what happens.

Check your vac lines.
If it's ticking very bad could be a bad MDS lifter.
Use the scanner to look at your O2 function and fuel psi/pump function.
