Missing cover over oil filter

I noticed today after my first oil change that I am missing a cover/plate that protects the oil filter and drain. Is there suppose to be a cover that protects that? I looked and it seems like their should be one but I don't see any way to bolt or secure one to the underside. I have the OR-II so I would think that would be protected also. I am thinking they forgot to put it back on after the oil change.

Wherever you had your oil changed: they forgot to put that "protective door" back on.

_OR_

The vehicle made it out of the plant with out this little cover... either way you should go get this part - as it was put there for a reason (sorry - I'm an engineer) and should not be MIA (it just looks funky). I would limit my passes through the 2-track woods trails while this protective door is not there.

No worries though -- they forgot the door on mine as well on the last oil change a few days ago at the D-ship. I will go get it, and put it back on myself if it will be faster.

There is not supposed to be a cover there...there should be a hole in the front plastic cover to allow access to the filter.

...I stand corrected...

it does totally look like there is supposed to be a door there. I guess that is why I got the response that I did when I asked about it...

I just guessing here but I'm going to say that it is a filler plate for the v6 more than a cover for the oil filter. I'm only saying this because it looks as if the oil filter on the v6 is not where it is on the v8. please correct me if I'm wrong. Either way I would like to have it.

The oil filter cartridge (yuck) on the V6 is on the top of the engine. But I believe you still need to remove that bottom cover to get at the drain plug.
