Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Hi there, only covered approx 800 miles so far but well impressed overall with the GC. I have done a fill up to fill up consumption check & have achieved 31.5 mpg so far. This is from a good range of driving - motorway, town & general - should go up more as I get more use to the car & as it gets more run in. Seems to run at 2250 rpm at 70 mph in 5th - OK higher rpm than I was use to but still very quiet & smooth.

My first 500ks has equalled 9.5 L/100

Although a lot of this has been short trips and showing people the awesome power :P

We did a road trip and got 9.2lt/100km, then another towing a full box trailer (400kg) got 11.4 and around town all short trips 11.2. Very happy with the economy, as we do not drive for economy.

4000km on the clock and I get between 8.8 and 9.2 per 100km around town, 14 per 100km towing 2300kg, and around 8 on the highway cruising at 100km/h. I have noticed my economy changes depending on where I fill up with Diesel

OK guys I know you are all in "metric locations" but since the CRD is coming to America some of us are starting to read the Oz posts. However the data you are reporting may as well be in furlongs per fornight to most of us yanks - can one of you please run it through babelfish for me? :)

Frog I looked at your method and thought that was too simple.
Then checked it with this and it all matches.

Yeah dont worry i thought it was too simple as well. Just gotta be careful with those converters, some use an Imperial Gallon rather than US Gallon.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

that one allows you to select imperial or US gallons.

City driving in the CRD Overland

1st 400km came in at 13.7 lt per 100 km

Currently getting 12.2 lt per 100km with 500+ km on the clock.

Seems to be steadily improving.

One thing I noticed was initially when stationary and idling, the fuel consumption bar at the bottom of the Fuel Economy screen on EVIC would turn solid and the km per 100 lt would steadily increase. That appeared to really bump up the fuel consumption though the 13.7lt figure was calculated using an ipad app I use to monitor running costs (Roadtrip HD, if anyone's interested)

Might be just a coincidence, but last night I upgraded my software in uconnect to 2.120. This morning I noticed the fuel consumption bar at idle does the opposite and now shows 0 fuel consumption at idle.

Obviously, I wont be getting optimium fuel economy until the engine is run in.
