My dealership must thought I was an idiot..

Ok guys, I swear I'm not making this up please make sure you're securely seated while reading this.

Droped off my WK2 at the dealership yesterday for some warranty issues. One of them was a obvious mis-alignment between the front fender and driver door panels, where the fender panel sits approximately 1/8" of inch further out then the driver doror panel. See attached picture.

Called in advance today before drving down to pick her up, but was told that they can't or won't repair the mis-alignmnet because "It was purposely built this way to vent engine heat, also it's an aeordynamic feature as per their windtunnel test". I drew a blank didn't know what to think right away but was actually laughing on the way to pick up the WK2.

Sorry I don't wish to disclose the dealership name in a public domain at this time as I plan to take it up with Chrysler Canada. But please feel free to PM me if you're shopping for a Chrysler product in Greater Vancouver area.

What do you all think? Should I request for a copy of the windtunnel test report?

Is it like that on the other side? If not show them that as a comparision or use another vehicle on the lot

I can understand wanting to fix it but is it that noticeable that someone could walk up and be like "Hey, that's misaligned!"?

Are you afraid of defamation of the dealer's character or something?

Sadly...that doesn't surprise me LOL.

Nothing on a $40k plus vehicle should be misaligned, bottom line.

I didn't say it was excusable or acceptable, just curious if it's very noticeable from a distance or if it's something that's better seen up close.

I would imagine that you would expect $40K+ vehicle to be free of defects in workmanship but no manufacturing process is foolproof.

All your suggestions are much appreciated. I meant to share my story in a light hearted manner but have basicly gave up on this particular dealership with other outstanding delivery and warranty issues on this vehicle.

To answer your question, no the gap it's not immediately noticable but I can't help myself looking at it now everytime I walk up to the driver door knowing it's there. Furthermore, the dealership acknowledged the misalign exist but I just can't accept their horse crap story about it being a performance enhancing feature.

I was so dissapointed with them that when I arrived at the dealership I only asked for my car key and gave them the heads up that complaints will be filed with Chrysler Canada. Cheers.

Alright cool, that's truly ashame they have such a lack of respect for you as a customer that they would make up a bold lie like that. Good luck with your dealings with Chrysler's Canadian division. :)

I cant stand mis-aligned panels either. From the picture that is a very obvious gap and I would be getting that fixed as well if it were mine.

Their story is pretty hilarious and its incredible that dealerships actually feed people that kind of bullshit. Just to call them out I to would tell them to show me proof that Chrysler intentionally mis-aligns body panels to allow for better engine cooling and aerodynamics. Morons!

Your "trail rated" badge is going to disrupt the airflow... Maybe this is a feature only common to the trail rated models to compensate for the badge

I would ask them to put it in writing. If they ask why, say it is to wipe your butt with.
You have every right to get it fixed and feeding you this BS is and insult.
