Door courtesy / step lights? 2012 wk2
2012 grand cherokee

Does anyone have a recommendation for putting lights in the door, you know the kind that light up the ground when the door opens? Some call them puddle lights.

I was surprised that a $50k overland did not have these types of courtesy lights std.

Or, putting lights under running board / step?

Hasn't someone done this?

could anyone post some pictures or shed some light on where you tapped into the driver footwell light, how you ran the wires? Are the passenger side lights tapped into the passenger side or are they all run in a loop around the vehicle from the driver side. Thanks! I want to possibly try and get this done today.

Basically I just need to figure out how to get from the inside of the vehicle (footwell light shown) to below the rocker panel molding underneath the car without just simply running a wire over the door sill.

also there is a yellow and black wire running from the driver footwell lamp. Which do i splice into? Would a t clamp suffice? sorry im a noob on this electrical stuff.

Thanks for taking the initiative on this! I'm very interested in doing this myself but I am also an electronoob. Which lights did you end up going with?

Re: Door courtesy / step lights? 2012 wk2
youre welcome i will keep you posted. I havent bought any lights yet but i did see some in a local auto shop the other day that were relatively inexpensive and water proof. Im sure they will suffice. I installed the mopar ambient lighting kit recently and im stuck for now on this. Im going to take a ride up to the store at lunch and see what i can figure out. I did find the splicing information on the instructions for the lighting door sills on JFJ's. here it is.... (located on page 3)

I still need to figure out where to run the wire to get to the exterior. Any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated

Re: Door courtesy / step lights? 2012 wk2
picked up 8 ft. of white smd led strip lighting, some t clamp or quick splice connectors, extra 9 ft. of accessory wire and some alcohol prep wipes at lunch from local auto store. $100 total. Going to try my hand at it and will probably do a write up with pictures on a separate thread. Wish me luck!!
