The beast needs snow shoes......
drove mine in snow covered road last week-end and my 3 season tires didn't have much grip compared to the pirelli scorpion ice I had on my Cayenne S.

Just my 2 cents.....

Re: The beast needs snow shoes......
Hey B-DMD, I took mine out last Saturday too in the snow, and I have the all-season tires. It was the first time for me to drive during a snow storm with the Jeep SRT8. I wanted to see how it handled etc.

We had close to 10 inches around here and most roads were partially plowed. That meant I traveled through anywhere on 3-6 inches of snowy roads and about 10 inches on my unplowed driveway. BTW, I left it in Snow mode and got out of the driveway without problems.

Accelerating and braking were what I expected on the roads I traveled on. As long as you don't accelerate hard or brake late, I had adequate control of the Jeep. Of course I like to have fun in this thing so I purposely tried to get out of control on many occasions. My only "Oh Sh!t" came when I took a highway off ramp over 35mph and got on my brakes which pushed the front end out a bit and came close to hitting a snow bank. I should have let the stability control take over instead!:o

If you are serious about getting snow tires now, I hope some are still available this late in the season. I've driven other performance vehicles with snow tires and they really do help in the snow. I just hated the dry performance part though. Heck, we might not get much more snow this season anyways?

Do you know where to locate snow tires or do you need a reference?

Re: The beast needs snow shoes......
I think Pirelli makes a snow tire the same size as the all season Verdes

Re: The beast needs snow shoes......
Transam, as you know we have had a mild winter, but if it were anything like last year, I would have 2 choices:

1) Get blizzacks or pirelli scorpion

2) Put the beast in snow mode and drive like my grandfather

I need input on what would fit on the SRT for next winter.......

Re: The beast needs snow shoes......
Ended up getting on a highway on the way home from an event. They closed the highway after we were already on it. It was pretty much a sheet of ice. Granted, we were going pretty slow, but didn't have any problems. Was somewhat unnerving seeing people doing the same speed as you just suddenly slide off the hwy.
