Diesel oil Filter

After the usual stuffing around, my friendly jeep dealer found p/no 68109834AA which according to WK2 Jeeps is the correct one for 3.0 diesel. I was quoted around $130AUD, when I picked myself up he said he would give it to me at Trade about $100. I expected a higher price than a Territory but not 7 times, what price have other owners been quoted, I wont get servicing done at the dealer when they could not give me a firm price for a basic service.

free oil filter if using jeep/chrysler

I was quoted $55AUD from our only dealer in Darwin so I would expect it to be cheaper else where in OZ
If I were you I'd try another dealer because $100 is still almost twice what they cost

Re: Diesel oil Filter

I have been told the $130 filter has been replaced by a $55 one, even though they are the same filter, but with different part numbers. I did not get the new part number but the parts guy was very helpful and said he would sell it to me for $50. Get the dealer to check the other CRD filter.
I will be getting 2 tomorrow for a interim service (5kkm) on the weekend.

P.S I also got a quote on a new FOBIK (remote key) for our Jeeps....$320. I suggest you do not lose it.

Thanks Enforcer, the original part no I was given was 05175571AA the price around$40 and the other number for the $130 one 68109834AA they are entirely different filters, both are paper cartridge type the cheaper one is just the filter, the other one has a rubber cover on top and also an O ring, they also appear to have different diameters, can you please let me know the correct part number, thanks in anticipation.

I just got back from SVM Artarmon with my 2 CRD oil filters.
The part# 68109834AA which is what hiland was told. Apparently there are 2 prices and the $50+GST is the new correct price. I have attached a picture of the filter and box for your enjoyment. I will also take pictures and a writeup on how to do an oil change. Hopefully this weekend.

Thanks Enforcer, yesterday I rang the Townsville dealer, their price for the filter Retail $64.74, Trade $59.40, I then rang local dealer and they were still at $130approx, after I told them the Townsville price, they decided to obtain one from Townsville providing I paid retail, I agreed and picked up the filter this morning, the parts man said $211.35, he was the same guy that said $130 3days ago, He said that is Jeep Pricing off the computer, he was completely bewildered, My invoice states retail price $211.35 down to $64.74. Jeep need to get their pricing right, the filters are still too expensive for what you get, stamped Made in China.

Re: Diesel oil Filter

Yeah I noticed the Made in China stamp on the box. It is also a poor filter IMHO, just looks cheap. The parts guys I dealt with also thought $50 was a ripoff.
