Any pointers to getting ready for winter

Was thinking of things to get the jeep ready for winter, was thinking about buying a block heater then heard about battery blankets i think there called. Any input on these also any tips or things to know to make sure i dont face any surprises. This might be good for new jeep owners where this will be their first winter with it.

Thanks
Tom

I'm in Long Island NY. I don't think I need an engine block heater here. Maybe if I had a Diesel. I want to throw a couple of good coats of was on before the winter. I'd def take any chrome or polished wheels off in the winter.

^^To protect the finish from getting damage by the salt, sand whatever harsh elements on the road in the winter..

Synthetic oil can also help with cold start-up. It does 2 things, better "cold flowing" oil helps with cold cranking and the quicker the oil can get up into the engine when cold, the less engine wear you will have.
