3M Clear Bra or XPEL...

Hello everyone, I'm looking forward to getting my 2012 Jeep SRT8 (Brilliant Black), however I'm concerned about paint chips (now that I won't be leasing).

That said, two different options are available... one from Zeibart which is XPEL clear bra, the other a 3M option from a local well known tint shop.

Any suggestions? What would you recommend me having done on the Jeep... doors, front, mirrors, etc...

Also, any gotchas on having these on a black vehicle?

Thanks!

I think its a good idea on the jeep srt8. Do as much of the front bumper as possible, front of fender, grille, headlights, front of hood, mirrors and skirts

Thanks... i don't think it's a matter of if I am going to do it, just more of a which should I use and what parts.

As far as I know the XPEL product is actually made by 3M so probably the same thing. I could be wrong. I am looking at getting the XPEL product.

Xpel Ultimate is a good product with a warranty - I did a full front bumper wrap, front hood, mirror caps, rocker panels, A pillars, top of roof. The Ultimate film is self healing also.

I got my bumper, bikini cut hood, fenders, headlights. Was told it wouldn't stick well to the mirror caps as they are chrome. Also I went with avery nanofusion, was relatively new 2 years ago, strong, yet invisible (no orange peel) was/is one of the best currently. Its also has a warranty for life if I remember. Its sealed, non yellowing, shouldn't peel, etc. This is on a wk2.

Check out these vettes-

I have had the 3M on my vette for 2 years and it has stood up quite well. I have 20,000 miles on it on the roads here in Michigan. My other cars are ALL chipped up. More important than which product though is the installer. I have seen bad installs. I thinks all the products are pretty good these days, but a bad install will show.

Where do you suggest the 3m being applied?

A reputable installer... Search google and find people in your area that recommend different installers. Might find people on other forums for other vehicles, can also sometimes try the manufactures website for a list of certified installers.

I meant on the srt8 :)

I've got a good place for xpel nick at nonicks.com (users to work w him) and the tint shop for 3m.

I did the bikini cut on my last car and probably wouldn't do it again. After a few years of being on, that bikini like becomes more and more visible. The wear and tear and continued waxing just brings that line out.

Hopefully the Nanofusion is better, good luck to you. Other than that, I had the Xpel and loved it.
