730N RHR - How can I get a CD sent to me?

I just picked up my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that has the 730N RHR. It currently has the 2.110 software version. The service department says that is the latest version.

However, I have been told that it should be 2.120, but cannot find that on any official Jeep sites.

Should it be 2.120? And, if so, is there some way to get a CD sent to me? I really do not want to burn a CD on my own.

Thanks in advance.

William

The dealer told me the same thing and I had to upgrade it myself. I do not believe that there is a CD available but if you have access to a computer, you can download the software and instead of burning a DVD, use an USB flashdrive. I find that to be more reliable and seems to be faster. The following thread has more info on this:

You have to wonder that if 2.120 is not authorized by Jeep and you install it, then your radio acts up for some unrelated reason, whether Jeep would consider it to have been tampered with and refuse to replace the radio.

You never know. Bureaucracies function in a world of rules and regulations, with common sense often taking a back seat.

Guys this are official Uptade from Harman Becker!

Why you not use the USB-Stick?

if one of Switzerland here Official Dealer is a message from the latest update was unknowing or that was already six months to a year old ......... this is quite normal.

Since 2008 I have contact with Harman Becker and the team is great shape and offers an incredible support you have no warranty problems.

Here Contact Harman Becker if you not believe me, you WK2 guys you know the steps just still too little with the updates and the flow of information from the dealer.

LX and WK1 guys know the updates information etc......

Authorized? It isn't even acknowledged by the dealer in question! How would they "know" if they don't even know what the latest version is? I've had plenty of experience with the MyGig, and in my experience, the dealer rarely offers an update, even when you inform them of one being available, they will just order a replacement and you end up hoping it has a better/newer version of software.

The only aspect that troubles me about this version, RHR, is there is no "older" version to revert back to should the new version cause some undesired operation. In the past the updates were readily available on http://mofv.com/mygig/ but apparently the radio's manufacturer has tightened up on the access of the update files.

I'm not certain but I suspect that the site was tacitly supported by Harman Becker in the past, but for whatever reason, that support has ended. Disappointing, because the site offered a method for owners to receive some help, and hope. But now you can wait for the dealer or Jeep to call you and let you know about the newest software...

Sox, your info in recent weeks has been invaluable. However, the warranty in this country is with Jeep, not Harmon Becker. As mentioned earlier, there is no rollback if the upgrade fails and the media center tanks. Go to Jeep service to revive a crippled 730N and you know they will say it's the user's fault for not having had Jeep do the upgrade "properly." If you say the upgrade is authorized by Harmon Becker, they'll tell you to go to Harmon Becker with your troubles.

Who needs this when it's Jeep's responsibility -- for which we've paid handsomely -- to fix defects within warranty? The vanishing presets/nav home issue has been resolved, at least for us, by going to the EVIC and switching off RKE Link to Memory which wasn't doing anything for us, anyway. This way the problem is taken care of in seconds without having to get into flashing new firmware. Granted, the risk of a serious problem with a reflash is pretty slim, but why bother when the memory problem can be resolved easier and with zero risk through a simple EVIC adjustment?

When Jeep finally wakes up from its winter hibernation and discovers v2.120, and I have to bring in the buggy for something else anyway, I'll have them do the reflash.

hey buddy

yes you have rigth, are in europe the same, the big problem are the dealer here "stupid" and have no information and other information about the mygigs.

i have many friends this going to the dealer about a problem with the mygig, dealers look....have no way......say must be replaced.....no warranty.........3500$

And the issue can resolved only with a software update, this are only a example.

but i understand your statement and its the rigth way, its rigth the normaly way are go to jeep, chrysler, dodge!

Re: 730N RHR - How can I get a CD sent to me?

As luck would have it, after three weeks the presets/nav home vanished after I did the usual changing today of the driver's 1/2 memory setting. So the EVIC change obviously helped greatly (it used to act up almost daily), but it doesn't cause the problem to totally disappear.:(

UPDATE: False alarm. I inadvertently was checking with the driver setting as my wife's, which I never bothered putting in presets because she only listens to the HDD. So the EVIC fix is still chugging along just fine. Still going to get our local dealer to install 2.120 when it comes in shortly, as reported in another thread.
