05' GC Sunroof Stuck ALL THE WAY Open - Please Help!

I know there are other threads on here about sunroof issues, however, mine's a bit different. I've heard to pull the fuse while the roof is in motion and I've heard the "put it in the vent position" to reset trick, but my problem is that my sunroof will not move at all, therefore I can't make it move to pull the fuse or put it into the vent position. It is stuck completely open. There is nothing in the tracks. The buttons light up but don't function, except for when I push the open button I hear a click or noise which indicates power is still going to it.
This just happened out of the blue today. It worked fine this morning and then just died mid-afternoon.
I am the second owner of my Jeep and found out that the sunroof is a Webasto Hollandia 735 inbuilt- factory installed. Since it came this way off the assembly line, I'm guessing all Jeeps have Webastos, but I'm honestly not sure?
Here's an image of the control panel . . .

This image does not match the image of the control panel my owners manual shows.
A couple of months ago I noticed my buttons were acting goofy. The open button would still open it, but the close button would not work and neither would the slide forward/vent button. To close it I had to hit the position 1 button for some reason. Now I've heard that these things can have programming issues, so I tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery - didn't work. I also checked the fuses, which were fine.
I took it to AutoZone - they had no clue. I took it to the local Jeep dealership for a free opinion - they wouldn't give me one even though they have before. Poopy.
So, I don't know what's wrong. I don't know if I need to reset the thing or what. All I know is that I can't afford to take it in, so I'm hoping to find a solution here. Honestly, I don't care if it doesn't work anymore. I just want to get it closed because it's supposed to rain all week and I don't have a garage. It's pretty heartbreaking to see it sitting in the driveway with a dirty brown tarp over it. :(
Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...you sure the sunroof was factory installed?

I have never seen a button layout like that in an '05...

That being said, if you're sure the tracks are clear and it is receiving power, I would be tempted to try and gently "persuade" it a little bit to get it to move. Not too much force, but just to see if it will budge a little...

Hopefully someone else can chime in with a more technical approach to solving your problem!

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! I have a flyer thing that says the Webasto is an option when you ordered one from a dealer, but again, I'm not sure. I attempted to "persuade" it, but I didn't try too hard because I'd just die if I somehow made it worse. Maybe I'll try a bit more forcefully tomorrow, since I'm sure I'll get desparate as the rain moves in. Lol.

A thought . . . the top of my Jeep had a bit of hail damage when I bought it, so I guess it's a possibility the original sunroof was replaced after hail damaged it.

You certainly want to be careful not to break things, but apart from taking it into a shop and have them deal with it, I'm not sure what other options there are.

If it is like most sunroofs/moonroofs, I think the actual mechanism utilized in the movement is pretty hard to get to for inspection so you may not be able to see what is binding.

Not sure how much help that is, hopefully someone with experience trouble shooting these things can add some tips.

Good news . . . PROBLEM SOLVED!

Yesterday I disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes and it didn't fix anything. Out of frustration this morning I disconnected the battery again and left it that way for well over an hour. Hooked it back up and VOILA! Sunroof closed! Thank God! It's starting to rain as we speak!

Thanks again for the reply! I don't think I'll be using my sunroof again for fear that this wil be a reoccuring problem! :)

Glad to hear things worked out.

It's amazing how often a simple battery reset takes care of things!

I often think our machines must have some Window OS components or something in there!

just a thought.... i had some weird electrical issues with my lights, stick with me this may be related ;) i fixed that particular issue by bypassing my non-factory tow harness.... but in the process of troubleshooting i fixed another electrical issue by replacing some fuses... I noticed that most fuses had .1 ohm when measured, but others where .3 and more. I replaced any fuse that was not .1 ohms... this seems to have fixed my dashboard light flicker. Moral of he story, check them fuses.....
