Jeep SRT8 vs Hyundai Sonata

So yesterday morning, after just filling up, I'm heading to work, a 24 year old girl decided to cut off a 24' box truck at a green light, crossing the trucks path and mine. She missed the truck, but it was too late for the Jeep with the snow tires on to stop in time.
Good news is, no one was hurt.
But to sum it up....I think the Jeep gets a Kill of the day! But in another way.
You decide!

See her car:

And then...The Jeep!

:arms::arms::arms:

The police officer that arrived was convinced he's buying a Jeep for his next car after seeing what it did to the Tinfoil Hyundai.

As a rental car, the Enterprise rental car gave me the new Durango Crew in the same color. ;) Not a bad ride at all and for a V6 for such a heavy ride, it's has suffecient power for most people.
I however will wait till the SRT8 version comes out.

A better angle for the Jeep Damage:

OMG! Not the kind of kill you want to have in your SRT! Glad to hear you're alright! :) Can't believe the difference in damage between the 2 vehicles!

glad everyone is alright! hopefully you dont get screwed over on anything, make sure you get diminished value from her insurance co if available in your state. regarding the damage, the WK is a tank! i have had two hard front end collisions with mine and there has only really been cosmetic damage. the structure is solid!

Re: Jeep SRT8 vs Hyundai Sonata

Solid is right.
I've never heard of the diminished value, which is something I have been most concerned about.
I'm going to research it now.

Thanks of the heads up on it.

**Edit** In MA, they ruled it is something that is not covered by auto insurance companies on thier OWN policy holders.
However, it is a valid claim as a 3rd party suit. Which would essentially be a suit in small claims court.
I am in pretty good with my dealer, so I asked him to give me a value on my jeep prior to accident and post accident and document it.
Once you provide this along with maintenance records and overall proof of the condition of the vehicle before the crash and how it was maintained, you can further support your argument of the diminished value of a bad carfax.

Anyone have a guess what a 2010 SRT8 fully loaded with 35K miles would go for if it has a clean carfax vs an accident on the carfax? TIA

Thanks Scott. It blows, but I'm digging the Durango. Miss the power, but drop the 6.4 in here, and some Black Ops body kit and I think it could be a killer!

I guess you have to expect those results with the SRT8's stiffened body lol

Re: Jeep SRT8 vs Hyundai Sonata

Brian, I had an accident that was similar to that damage (I see you may have some suspension damage as well) minus the body damage. Most of my damage was in the suspension and the wheels. I hit a curb off an on ramp after some dude cut me off after he thought I wasnt going fast enough in the rain. So to avoid getting hit, I swung the wheel over and the Jeep skid into the curb wheel out, so the tread of the tire (my RFT's were near the end of their life as well at the time (before I bought the Toyos) ) hit the curb. After that happened, I skidded some more and I hit the face of the rims. :( Had to get two rims and a lot of suspension work done. Luckily I had my boy Leigh (magnumman426 on JG) who is a master tech at Chrysler fix my Jeep up and I swear to you the Jeep drives better than new. Don't think that the Jeep is done or will have a black eye. As long as you have a great mechanic and a body shop, you will be alright.

Anyways, here is an estimate of what I had done. And some pics.

Joe,
Your damage estimate is almost identical to mine! Your Jeep IS identical to mine, for all intensive purposes and we got them around the same time! That is just WIERD
I'm having the Jeep Collision center to it and He's been doing Chysler and Jeep for 20 + years. So I trust him. Glad to hear you went through the same thing and it was fine.

Did you're lower control arm bend or snap?

Robert Palmer 02-07-2012 03:07 PM

Re: Jeep SRT8 vs Hyundai Sonata

It was close to snapping. I was lucky it didnt bc I drove the Jeep the rest of the way home with the steering wheel tilted to the right to keep it straight. lol
